We work almost exclusively with storm-felled and locally collected hardwoods from the greater Philadelphia area — timber that would otherwise be lost. Each board is milled, dried, and hand-selected in our shop. Nothing is mass-cut. Nothing is wasted.

The solid hardwood frame carries a sculpted, low-profile silhouette: an arched crest rail, tapered back spindles, and arm rails shaped to rest the eye as much as the body. No veneer. Every joint cut and fitted by hand.

Warm, open grain with a subtle ray fleck. The most traditional of the three, honest and durable.

Rich ribbon figure with a warm reddish-brown tone. It photographs like walnut and works like walnut, with a character all its own.

The benchmark of American hardwood furniture. Deep chocolate tones, straight grain, and a natural luster that only improves with age.
The Cushions
Every chair comes with a seat and back cushion, sewn to order and upholstered in Cambria by Folio. Cambria is a performance textile with the hand of linen and none of its fragility. It's built on Crypton, so it repels liquid, stains, soil, and odor, and it stays fade-resistant and pet-friendly through years of daily use. It's PFAS-free, Greenguard Gold certified, and made in the USA.
This matters more than it sounds. A rocking chair is furniture you actually live in, usually with a child, a coffee, or a dog somewhere in the picture. Most makers put a beautiful fabric on a chair like this and quietly hope. I'd rather put a fabric on it that survives.
Choose your colorway:
Beige — Warm and quiet. It settles into the wood and lets the frame do the talking.
Navy — Deep and saturated. The strongest contrast against all three species.
White — Clean and bright. It opens up a room, and the Crypton is what makes white a real option here rather than a brave one.

A note on the footprint: because of the rocking base, the piece extends past the seat depth front to back. Leave at least 36" of clearance in your space.
Care
Frame sealed with clear lacquer. Wipe it with a warm, damp cloth and dry it right away. Skip the chemical cleaners. Dust with a soft cloth. Built for indoor use.
For the cushions, mild soap and water handles most things. Blot, don't rub. For anything stubborn, have them cleaned professionally, cleaning code W. Natural variation in the weave is characteristic of the material, not a defect.

Your chair is made to order in Philadelphia. Local delivery is included anywhere in the greater Philadelphia area. I bring it myself and make sure it sits right in your room. It's the best part of the job.
Past the local area, I quote shipping by destination, crated freight or white-glove, whichever you prefer. Reach out before ordering and I'll get you a number. Nothing ships until you've seen the quote and approved it.

Payment is collected in full at checkout. That money buys the hardwood I select, mill, and cut for your chair specifically, and it puts your cushions into production. None of it comes off a shelf.

A note on the photos: the cushions shown on the chair are a prototype in stock fabric. Your production cushions are Cambria by Folio in the colorway you choose — Beige, Navy, or White, shown in the fabric images here. Order a sample kit if you'd like to see and feel the real fabric before you commit.
Made-to-order pieces can't be returned. If your chair arrives damaged, photograph the packaging before you unpack any further and contact me within five days. I'll handle the claim and make it right. And if I deliver it personally and something isn't right, I take it back with me.

All three species come in their natural finish, no stain and no dye. What arrives is the wood itself, sealed and protected. Grain, figure, and tone vary naturally from one piece to the next. That variation isn't a flaw. It's the point.
Where a board carries a knot or a check worth keeping, I stabilize it with steel, and sometimes brass, set across the grain to hold a crack-prone area in place. Whether your chair carries it, and where, comes down to the boards I select for your build. The photos show one example; yours will be its own.
A low table, built to hold the middle of a room without crowding it. The base is solid hardwood, joined with bridle joints and mortise-and-tenon. No fasteners, no dowels standing in for real joinery. The tempered glass top leaves the joinery visible from every angle and the floor visible through the center. A table this open has nowhere to hide a poor cut, which is exactly why I build it this way.

The Glass
3/8″ tempered safety glass, clear, with flat-polished edges. Tempering heat-treats the glass to several times the strength of ordinary plate. It resists impact and heat, and in the rare event it fails, it breaks into blunt granules instead of shards. The top sits flush in a rabbeted recess, fully supported by the frame around it. Every top is cut to order and inspected by hand before it leaves the shop.
The Steel
Some boards carry a knot or a check, a place where the tree lived hard. Storm-felled wood often does. Rather than cut those sections out, I keep them and stabilize them. Fine stainless steel, set across the grain, holds a crack-prone area in place and lets the wood stay in the piece. The repair sits on the surface, not hidden beneath it. The steel is deliberate, and so is keeping the wood that asked for it. Whether your table carries it, and where, comes down to the boards I select for your build. This one has it. Yours will be its own.
